B"H
COMPANY
BACKGROUND
Griller's Pride opened for business in Atlanta in October 2004 as a Glatt
Kosher Beef, Lamb, Veal and Poultry butchery - delivering directly to
customers' homes in Metro Atlanta. We now deliver to numerous cities within
the Southeasten states and we ship our products to customers throughout
the continental United States. We are under supervision of The Atlanta
Kashruth Commission and we invite existing and prospective customer to
contact Rabbi Reuvein Stein, Director of Supervision of The Atlanta Kashruth
Commission, (404) 634-4063 to verify our bona fides.
Griller's Pride
was conceived soon after my 16-year career in the "HiTech" computer
software industry ended. Ever since we arrived in the United States from
South Africa in 1996, my wife Yael, had missed being able to obtain glatt
kosher "Boerewors", the authentic South African sausages that
we were all raised on - an approximate (but infinitely better!) counterpart
of the American hotdog. After years of her "pleading" with me
to produce these ourselves, I finally succumbed. We bought a small sausage-making
attachment for our Kitchen-Aid, and began making these for our friends
and ourselves. The feedback was fantastic and we resolved to one day open
up our own plant to produce these on a commercial basis.
Fast-forwarding
and after what seemed like endless planning (and set-backs), we finally
launched Griller's Pride, to not only produce the KosherBoeries sausages,
but also to produce a full-line of glatt kosher meat and poultry products.
We found premises in Doraville (Atlanta) which were condusive to attaining
supervision under The Atlanta Kashruth Commission and opened for business
in October of 2004.
We are still
a young and small company and have a far way to go before we can relax
(even just a little), but the support from and growth of our customer
base continues to be the driving force of our enthusiasm.
FOOD SAFETY,
HYGIENE & PRODUCT QUALITY
In order to ensure food safety, beside the statutory inspection services
from the Georgia Department of Agriculture, we place the utmost importance
on hygiene, temperature control, product rotation and cleanliness. For
example, none of our products ever exceeds allowable temperatures and
all product labeling is accurate and in accordance with statutory requirements.
We always welcome unannounced visits from our customers to take a tour
of our facility and are proud of the fact that, figuratively speaking,
one can "eat off the floor". Every morning, before processing,
we do a rigorous pre-processing inspection and at the end of every processing
shift, we do a complete washdown and sanitization of our processing area.
HOME-DELIVERIES
IN METRO-ATLANTA
Because Metro-Atlanta is so spread out, and until we have a retail store,
we took the decision to invest our resources in being able to deliver
directly to customers' homes. This has proven to be an extremely succesful
strategy because with the busy lifestyles that virtually all of us are
subjected to, few of us have either the time or the inclination to spend
hours at the supermarket only to have to "lug" meat and poultry
to and from the car.
CUSTOMER
ORDER PICKUPS (Please View Map)
If however, you wish to, please feel welcome to arrange to pick up your
order from our plant in Doraville. We are conveniently located about 4
minutes from the Buford Highway exit (exit 32) off of I-285 (exit 32)
between Peachtree Industrial and I-85. If you need to, we will lend you
one (or more) of our highly-insulated Igloo containers so that your order
remains frozen until you get home. We simply ask that you submit your
order beforehand so that we have it made up for you on your arrival at
our plant. This pick-up option is proving increasingly attractive to both
Atlanta residents and out-of-town visitors.
SOUTHEASTERN
CITIES DELIVERIES
For our out-of-town deliveries to specific cities within the Southeast,
we deliver to a central location (typically a Jewish Community Center
or a Synagogue). Each customer's order is packed in shopping bags and
transported frozen in dedicated Igloo(s). On arrival at the assigned collection
point, we dispense the orders to each customer in the shopping bags.
FEDEX SHIPPING
TO OTHER CITIES WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL USA
For customers living in cities to which we do not currently deliver, we
ship orders in specialized insulated containers throughout the United
States. We use dry ice to ensure that our products arrive at our customers
frozen solid or at a minimum, very close to frozen to ensure food safety.
"CO-OP"
STYLE SHIPPING FOR RETAIL ITEMS TO OTHER CITIES WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL
USA
In order to reduce the cost of shipping to individual customers living
in cities that we do not deliver to, we are very excited to announce that
we now ship pallet-load shipments via refrigerated shipping carriers.
Customers in these cities place their orders directly with us and we pack
each of their orders in dedicated, customer-specific cardbord boxes. These
boxes are packed and consolidated on a shipping pallet and shipped via
a refrigerated transportation carrier.
The advantage
of this method is that, unlike the typical "co-op" system in
which customers have to order "case-lots" (typically 50 lb.
cases of the same item), and then split each case up with friends, with
our custom "co-op" service, individual customers order the specific
quantity of retail cut items they require in accordance with that item's
retail packing configuration (see product descriptions). For example,
if you only need 5 Ribeye Steaks, you get 5 individually vacuum-packed
ribeye steaks - you do not need to get a case lot of 50 lb.
For each one
of these cities, we have an agent, who is typically also a customer and
whose responsibility it is to receive the shipment, have the boxes unloaded
from the truck and pallet and contact each customer as soon as the pallet
load is received. Customers then arrive at the pickup point, typically
a customer's driveway, and take their box(es). Each box is clearly marked
with the specific customer's name for easy identification. Customers are
always notified about 10 days before the order arrives as to the date
of arrival and at least 3 days before the order arrives as to the time
of arrival. Because the orders do not require dry ice and because boxes
for each customer orders are consolidated onto pallets in a single shipment,
the shipping charges are significantly reduced (typically by around 50%)
of what it would cost to ship to individual customers using Fedex, UPS,
etc.
This method
works fantastically but 2 aspects are critical:
1. It is essential that one person in the community is prepared to act
as the receiving agent.
2. This method is really only viable where there are enough kosher-keeping
families to purchase a total product weight of 600 lb. This typically
equates to approximately 25 families each ordering about 25 lb. of product
at an average total landed cost of $200 each.
PACKAGING
OF OUR PRODUCTS
We VACUUM PACK and immediately freeze virtually 95% of our Beef, Lamb
and Veal products. This maximizes product quality and allows you to deep-freeze
our products for months without suffering freezer burn.
PAYMENT
Payment: We take Mastercard and Visa credit cards as well as checks. Unless
it is inconvenient for you, we ask you to NOT pay in cash so as to avoid
any safety risks for our drivers.
CUSTOMER
FEEDBACK
We are continuously looking for ways to further improve the quality of
our products and services in addition to enhancing the scope of our product
offering. If you have any suggestions and/or requests, please let us know
immediately. Further, if you are ever less than 100% satisfied with either
our service or the quality of any of our products, please do not hesitate
to contact Peter Swerdlow directly - there are very few problems that
we cannot correct - but we need your feedback. We regard our problems
as opportunities and rush toward them - not away from them!
PLEASE
GIVE US A TRY!
As a prospective customer, we respectfully ask that you give as a try,
and assure you that we will continuously strive to exceed your expectations.
Please do not hesitate to contact me either by phone at (770) 454-8108
or by email at peter@grillerspride.com
should you wish to discuss any aspect relating to becoming a valued customer.
GRATITUDE
& ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Our attainments to date are first and foremost the work of Hashem, for
we are all too well aware that even with the best business planning and
execution, we would not otherwise have reached even these modest beginnings.
There is also
zero doubt that were it not for the sheer persistence, determination and
ongoing support of my wife Yael, I would have still been travelling 4
days a week throughout the United States doing my computer software and
business consulting. Even while running a full-time practice as an Educational
Consultant for children that learn differently, she still actively contributes
to the marketing development of Griller's Pride. Anyone who has met her
will know exactly what I mean. Her superb culinary skills are evident
in many of the items that we produce. Our two children, Avi and Michal,
have had the opportunity of seeing first hand exactly what it takes to
get a business on its feet and never fail in their support. As immigrants
to this wonderful country, it is my hope and prayer, that they will one
day be able to proudly claim that they were in large measure part of its
development. Our friends together with our subsequent new customers who
have supported us, richly deserve our gratitude for their encouragement
and support.
Ultimately
this is a peoples' business and the quality of our products and level
of our customer service is a reflection of the caliber of our employees,
who consistently go well beyond the call of duty to exceed our customers'
expectations. Whether it is making up a last minute order at closing time
or ensuring that an out-of-town order is shipped off in time, it is never
too much trouble - thank you guys!
Sincerely
Peter Swerdlow
